Oooooh you guys, life is nuts. A whole lot of reflection & honest examination have brought me to the realization that I have less self-awareness than I have prided myself my entire life on having. In short, I always thought I knew more about myself than I actually have taken the time to know. Reason being, I have spent a lot of my energy in life avoiding negative emotions, avoiding suffering, avoiding my shadow. I’d wade the waters, play around with the idea of it & then become overwhelmingly afraid of what came to the surface... enough fear caused me to fill, fill, fill myself & my life to the brim with pleasure, experience, daydreaming, future planning, people, things, humor, creativity, you name it. Who would ever question such a beautiful life & say, “you know what I need to do?... I need to confront my suffering.” Who the heck would do that? I don’t even truly know if I have. Something tells me there’s a lot deeper to go. But I do know that even just a year ago, with all that I had, I felt deeply stuck & I felt like anything that pressed a button beneath the surface of my emotions could release a tidal wave. As a result, I wasn’t making true progress in my career, in my spiritual life, in my emotional well-being, in my relationships. I needed to familiarize myself with my darkness in order to bring out my light. Wow, am I all the more grateful for it now. 🖤🖤🖤 “My Heart Is Afraid that it will have to suffer," the boy told the alchemist one night as they looked up at the moonless sky. If I’m being totally truthful, I had a rough morning. I don’t understand my mind at times. Like how I can go from a relaxing vacation or a super fun weekend & then wake up Monday morning & the first thing/all I can think about are all of the things on my to-do list, all of the chores that have to get done & how behind I feel? It’s like somehow, some way, for a brief period of time I was able to access an “off switch” but it’s completely elusive & when the mind decides “now is the time!” it turns the switch back on without any warning. And because the switch was off at all, it forced my mind to go in hyperdrive to make sure I’m not missing anything or to make sure I understand the urgency, when it fact there is very little, real urgency. Nothing is life threatening in the moment. There are no problems in the moment. No amount of chores should cause me to live unhappily. No amount anxiety will help me finish on time for my deadlines. This is why we need to put our minds in check, people. They are completely unreasonable & causing us to suffer for antiquated reasons. 🦢🌸🦢 “And why do you worry about clothes? Happy #414 Milwaukee Day!! This city is lucky it has so many loyal 💗 lovers 💗 after putting up a ❄️ fit ❄️ like this today. Still, spent the day pretending it was spring at the MAM @milwaukeeart for #ArtinBloom. It was such an amazing event that made me love Milwaukee all the more. 🍻 I gotta say though. The fact that we can legitimately say “Winter is coming” in the middle of April on this day of Thrones is hugely underrated at this juncture. (P.s. I forgot to write down all of the florists so I’m not sure who to credit this stunning beauty to!)

This is quote is so beautiful to me. I used to have a lot of panic attacks until recently. Taking walks through the woods or even just admiring a tree as I’m walking down the street & paying attention to its branches & its stability is something that helps calm me. Trees became sources of comfort early on, a welcome companion. When I started digging deeper spiritually & allowing questions to come up, it was honestly scary. It caused a lot more anxiety than it helped at first. It was through reading lots of books that I began to see the world differently, as less threatening. Through seeing the world differently, I began to experience the world differently, as more loving & good. Being in large groups of people brings back anxiety for me, but now when I feel that coming up I find a person in the crowd & I remind myself I am connected to that person. That person is an extension of me & a manifestation of God. Somehow that thought grants me all the peace in the world. 🌳🌾🌊
I wasn’t planning on doing another floral series so soon, but those little beauties got the better of me & I’m so glad I am! I’ve realized I can grow a lot more in my practice when I push things a bit further & get past the ideas on the surface. My goal with this collection of paintings is to loosen things up in terms of form & space & to tighten my color palettes up a bit. I can’t wait to share more!! I’m hoping a collection will be released late May? 🤞☺️
